Common Name - Houseleek, Hens and Chicks

Country of Origin - Morroco, Iran, Alps, Turkey, Armenian Mountains

How to grow -Sempervivum are tough plants, they prefer being outside and will be quite happy outside all year, even with snow and frost. They require a well drained soil to prevent them from becoming waterlogged. We grow ours in a 50:50 grit and compost mix. During hotter temperatures they can close up and may lose some colour but will come back just fine when watered. Of all succulents they are one of the easiest to grow. When they flower in the summer the rosette that the flower comes from will die afterwards as they are monocarpic. Don't worry as the many rosettes they have will quickly fill the space that is left, they look great in planters and are very popular with bees

Hardiness - -15c

Description- A miniature version of the more common S. arachnoideum, the cobweb that makes this plant so popular is mainly in the center as opposed to all over the rosette
